Transitions Lesson Plan 4 - E-Portfolio
There is no point in using e-portfolios or good old Progress Files or even ROAs if they just get completed and forgotten. This lesson gets students using them in an interview scenario.
Connect the Learning
The e-portfolio (Progress File and/or the Record of Achievement) are important documents for transition. This lesson is about teaching the students how to use them effectively at interviews.
The Big Picture
Research suggests that students don’t see the value of their e-portfolios in the transition process. They simply collect them when they leave school as a ‘Certificate of Achievement’. This lesson suggests how the documents
are working documents and part of the transition process.
Learning Outcomes
To raise awareness of the range of documentation in current Progress Files and which documents are important at the interview stage of the transition process.
Introduction
How to prepare for interview – in pairs look through e-portfolios/Progress Files. Make a list of which documents are important to future employers or colleges. These can be referred to in an interview. Feedback to class. Teacher can summarise, brainstorm a list on the board etc.
