<img src='https://e-safety-docs.s3.amazonaws.com/media/sa_training_blog.jpeg' alt='SA Training Blog' />According to research carried out by <a href="https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-57231920" target="new" >BBC Radio 4 and the NASUWT</a>, teachers say they <i>do not feel equipped</i> to deal with peer-on-peer sexual abuse <i>because they have had no training</i>.
This is a problem we have been tracking for a while, which is why our sister site <a href="https://www.trainingschoolz.com?trk=wvlQekyPkX/" target="new" >TrainingSchoolz</a> recently worked with specialists at <a href="https://www.chameleonpde.com/" target="new" >Chameleon PDE</a> to launch a series of related online training assignments for use in schools.
The training is specifically designed to help schools and teachers deal with this and the wider issues of sexual abuse, harassment, and misogyny.
It provides staff with time for reflection about how their school's safeguarding policy and procedures include sexual abuse, harassment and misogyny, and how these address the issues raised by the students who reported to the ‘Everyone’s Invited’ website in Spring 2021.
This training is structured into five assignments, each of which are issued separately, so schools can be flexible in how they deliver them to staff.
Assignment 1: Introduction: Improving safeguarding around sexual abuse, misogyny & harassment
Assignment 2: Milly case study: Improving safeguarding around sexual abuse, misogyny & harassment
Assignment 3: Kyle case study: Improving safeguarding around sexual abuse, misogyny & harassment
Assignment 4: Curriculum: Improving safeguarding around sexual abuse, misogyny & harassment
Assignment 5: Further advice: Improving safeguarding around sexual abuse, misogyny & harassment

<img src='https://teachres-docs.s3.amazonaws.com/media/Logo_ChameleonPDE_with%20tag%20line_white.jpg' alt='Chameleon' />We’ve heard about schools who are very concerned about the mental health of their pupils but, due to the current Covid crisis, are struggling to timetable enough PSHE to meet student need.
Our friends at Chameleon PDE have come up with a solution. They have been busy developing new PSHE / Health and wellbeing materials for secondary schools which include a range of activities that can be delivered in 10, 20, or 30-minute sections, ideal for tutor delivery or for restricted lesson times. If lessons are longer, activities can be combined, fitting with any lesson length.
<b>One of the many benefits of using Chameleon resources are their PSHE / WELLBEING HOME LEARNING materials.</b>
<img src='https://teachres-docs.s3.amazonaws.com/media/Y9%20HL%20support%20mental%20health%20image.PNG' alt='Chameleon Home Learning' />Pupils who are at home due to Covid restrictions also don’t have to miss out on their PSHE / health and wellbeing lessons. Chameleon PDE’s Home Learning resources have been written carefully so that content is appropriate, leaving more the sensitive areas to be taught and discussed in school by teachers during contact time.
This can ensure students are receiving a full and potentially an enhanced programme, even though time in school may be restricted.
Chameleon have also produced a teaching pack with over 60 hours of teaching material specifically focussed on Covid-19 that can be used for personal development lessons in school.

<img src='https://e-safety-docs.s3.amazonaws.com/media/PVW%20logo%20date%20blue%20on%20white.png' alt='PVW 2020 3' />After a record-breaking 2019, with over 300,000 pupils joining, tootoot’s Pupil Voice Week is back and bigger than ever.
Running from the <b>21st – 25th September</b>, this year’s Pupil Voice Week has more partners and free resources than ever before to help schools celebrate.
This year’s theme is ‘it’s good to talk’. We’ll be promoting the wellbeing of people of all ages in education. We believe that through opening up and talking more about our own mental health, we can create a healthier school community.
We want every child to know that it’s good to talk about emotions, mental health and wellbeing. The week is all about empowering young people to speak-up and use their voice. With the help of our partners we have specially designed resources that explore topics such as emotional wellbeing, mental health, how they can use their voices for good and anti-bullying.

<img src='https://e-safety-docs.s3.amazonaws.com/media/STOPCSE_Logo_Colour_RGB.png' alt='Stop CSE Day Logo 2019' /><b>National Charity NWG Network asks all to unite against child sexual exploitation for their National Child Sexual Exploitation Awareness Raising Day – 18th March 2020.</b>
Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) is a form of sexual abuse that involves the manipulation and/or coercion of young people under the age of 18 into sexual activity.
The National Child Sexual Exploitation Awareness Raising Day aims to highlight the issues surrounding child sexual exploitation; encouraging everyone to think, spot and speak out against abuse and adopt a zero tolerance to adults developing inappropriate relationships with children.
<img src='https://e-safety-docs.s3.amazonaws.com/media/stop-cse-2-120x90.gif' alt='Stop CSE Day image 2019' />Previous National Child Sexual Exploitation Awareness Raising Days have seen hundreds of events take place across the UK, ranging from poster and leaflet displays to whole authorities embarking on targeted campaigns across public services and shopping centres.
Working with over 230 organisations across the UK to help prevent and raise awareness of child sexual exploitation, NWG Network continue to disseminate information on the issue of child sexual exploitation.
<br><i>‘The National Child Exploitation Awareness Day is a great way to highlight the issues surrounding Child Exploitation; encouraging everyone to think, spot and speak out against abuse and adopt a zero tolerance to adults developing inappropriate relationships with children or children exploiting and abusing their peers.' </i>
<h4>How to get involved</h4>The NWG advise, <i>'you can focus your awareness raising event to the day itself – 18th March – or spread it out with a series of events over the week or month. Just remember to let us know your plans and we will publicise them on our websites Awareness Day interactive map and through our social media platforms Holding events such as school talks to pupils, teaching staff and non-teaching staff, non-uniform days, stalls, displays, posters and leaflets through your place of work are an important and effective way of raising awareness and sharing important messages around child exploitation.'</i>
The NWG are also asking people to write a personal pledge on your hands to show support for the Helping Hands campaign. Post your photo on social media with the hashtag #HelpingHands and #CEADay20 to help to raise awareness of CSE and wider exploitation.
