KS4 - Work Experience Resources - guidance and workbook
Once your students have found their work experience placements, we can help you make sure they are prepared for it!
With a lesson plan about communication, a work placement diary and work experience agreement, all the preparation work is set out. There is also a fun quiz which can be used as an assessment tool.
In July, many students go on a work placement. While this is not a compulsory part of the work-related learning curriculum, it is seen as extremely beneficial.
This series of teaching resources help in the preparation for the work experience placement by encouraging students to think about what they hope to gain from the experience.
The first activity is a useful lesson plan to introduce the different types of communication in the workplace that they might encounter. A series of role play exercises help to highlight the key learning outcomes of this lesson.
To help students get prepared, we have created a student diary to complete before, during and after their placement.
This document should be completed and signed by both the student and employer to help set and achieve goals during the placement.
You can combine this series of lesson plans with our work experience assembly plan or interview skills teaching resources.
These work experience resources can be used to support learning outcomes for Preparing for Employment from City & Guilds. These resources are also suitable for use with Skills Towards Enabling Progression "Step Up" - Work Experience, Developing Skills for Employment - Preparation for Work Experience, Work Based Placement from NOCN; Employability Skills - Work Placements, Preparation for Employment from OCR.
