The Big Picture

This is the second of four lessons on local labour markets. In order to research their career options properly, students need to have an understanding of what a local labour market is, why it is useful to access information relating to the local labour market and where they can access such information.

The Learning Outcomes

Students will be able to locate, read and understand official sources of information about the local labour market.

Introduction

Ask the students to recall their activity in the previous lesson in which they researched the local labour market using informal sources of information. Ask them what might be wrong with this kind of information.

Could the information be biased, incomplete or inaccurate?

Did they have to guess at some of the information?
