Life Skills - Affirmations
Positive self talk/affirmations, is a private thing. It is a nurturing, healthy, positive, inspirational, motivational way of developing yourself without anyone else knowing what you are doing. You can look at it as your ‘secret weapon’ to success.

Connect the learning
Remind the students of previous learning that is related to the lesson.
Learning Outcomes
Students learn about negative self talk and how it affects them.
Students understand how they can correct negative self talk through the use of effective affirmations.
Introduction
Think of some negative things (negative self talk/‘chatter’) that you say to yourself, that are unhelpful and result in you feeling bad about yourself. Would they be something like this? (Read from slide 2 of PowerPoint).
Now ask the students to recreate the negative self talk into positive self talk/affirmations.
Ask them how they feel about saying these things to themselves.
