Piers Linney, who joined the BBC2 series last year, is launching a scheme that will allocate work experience anonymously, meaning companies cannot select pupils based on their school, exam results or parents’ jobs.

Last week the British Chambers of Commerce said that three-quarters of firms believed that a lack of work experience was the reason many young people were unprepared for work. Today we hear some schools are charging fees to arrange work experience. It is hard to blame the schools but, in principle, should there ever be a charge to a student/family for participating in work experience?
