The last two lessons look at skills needed in business – problem solving and team working. This lesson looks at problem solving skills using ole-play.

The Learning Outcomes

This session will help develop skills through students working together as teams in order to solve realistic business problems. Resources required The five associated problem solving student sheets Large sheets of paper and marker pens for brainstorming

Introduction

Explain that businesses always face problems and ask for suggestions about the types of problems that they might face. Explain that, often, the problem must be solved by a group of people rather than just the boss. Brief them for the activity, where they must consider how to solve a problem by:

- Identifying what the problem is
- Thinking of a number of possible solutions
- Deciding which solution is the best
