This is the first lesson of four looking at the topic of health and safety in the workplace, with a focus on health and safety issues at major events.
Resources required
“Production” information sheet for students available with this lesson
PowerPoint Health and Safety lesson 1
Props relating to health and safety (for example: flat shoes or boots, fire extinguishers, first aid kit etc)
Large sheets of paper and materials to create health and safety related display.
The Learning Outcomes
In this lesson students will:
Learn about the way business enterprises operate, working conditions and rights and responsibilities in the workplace
Engage with ideas, challenges and applications from the business world.
Introduction
In this session students read the case study of an individual who is involved with health and safety in the music industry. They then use a number of visual prompts in a PowerPoint exercise which enables them to start thinking about what kind of health and safety issues may be raised during a rock concert or event.
Handout copies of the “Production” information sheet. Students read through it in pairs then answer the questions at the bottom of the sheet.
