About the Issues of Healthy Eating Lesson Plan

The lesson provides students with a variety of different teaching material to help them understand the subject and encourages them to find relevant sources of information online or in the schools library. The lesson has a number of activities for students and all these activities aim to teach them about different eating disorders and the impact of having a poor diet. The issues of healthy eating can be a sensitive topic for some students as they may have been affected by eating disorders among friends or family members. This teaching material understands the sensitive nature of the topic and ensures that learning is carried out in a factual and responsible way. There is a lot of information for students to take in during this lesson and the lesson ends using a quiz to engage them further in the learning process and to reinforce what they have learnt.

Aims

The aim of this lesson is to ensure that students understand the consequences of having a poor diet and how this will impact on them now and in the future. The lesson also aims to teach students about different eating disorders by giving them facts and information about the disorders which they may not have known before. Finally, students are taught about the social and economic impact of eating disorders to ensure that they have a complete understanding on the topic.
