Learning Outcomes

By the end of this session, students will make a judgement about what makes good unique selling points.

Introduction

Ask students where they would go to buy particular items, e.g. trainers, computer gadgets, clothes, food. Create a list and do a quick straw poll to see how many would go to the same places.

Bring out some of the common features about their responses.

Activity

Students are to research the best place to buy a monitor with a set specification. The accompanying PowerPoint has a sample specification.

They record the findings of their research on ‘USP’ and then analyse the best deals they can get. They select the outlet that they would use and provide reasons why they would use it.
