The Big Picture
This is the first lesson in the ‘Implementation’ module which looks at how to implement ideas or businesses. This lesson looks at the basics of business start-up.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this session, students will appreciate how important it is to understand the advantages and disadvantages of setting up a new business.
Introduction
Whole class activity: Discuss the types of support that a new business might need, for example financial, legal and technical. Make a list of the examples that the students come up with. Display the website for Business Link and show how they can find out information related to all types and sizes of business ventures.
Activity
Students read through the ‘Case study sources of information’ and access the websites listed. They record the different types of support that they find on ‘Sources’ and explain how the support would be useful to a new business.
