The Big Picture

This lesson looks at how students can plan for change.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this session, the students will understand how they can begin to plan and prepare for change in their working life.

Introduction

Introduce the objectives for the remainder of the session, i.e. that students will work in groups to decide which features make them good team players and how this will help them to manage the changes that they encounter in their working life.

Activity

Split class into groups of four or five. Each group should have a copy of the ‘Things team players do’ worksheet, either in electronic format or as hard copy. Students have to decide which skills are relevant to them as a team player and which ones would be best as a team leader. They have to decide which skills they would have to learn in order to cope with working life. They should reflect on the personal skills that they identified as being required to manage change.

They need to identify how the two sets of skills relate.
