Problem Solving Lesson Plan

This is lesson 3 of 4 looking at enterprise. The key message of this lesson is that enterprise skills such as the ones explored in previous lessons in this module are important for life and work for everyone.

This lesson begins with a recap on key words from the previous lesson, making sure students are clear as to their meaning. Students must then suggest reasons why these skills are important. Explain that enterprise skills can not only benefit your working life, but also your life as a whole. Two important enterprise skills are problem solving and creative thinking.

In the main activity, students work in groups to think about some hypothetical situations. They must work as a group to think of as many consequences or outcomes of the suggestions. The class is then brought back together to run through the ideas and feedback is given before identifying the ideas considered good.

This exercise goes to show that sometimes good ideas come out of impractical statements. Enterprise thinking means that you can turn something useless into something useful. Students conclude the lesson by identifying any other enterprise skills they may have demonstrated in this lesson (teamwork, creative thinking, communication etc).
