Using hip hop mogul Jay-Z as a case study, students learn about entrepreneurial skills and qualities. This is lesson 1 of 4 lessons looking at enterprise. This lesson is an introduction to the topic and focuses on the meaning of enterprise and enterprising qualities/characteristics.

What is enterprise? - Lesson 1

In this module students will be introduced to the idea of enterprise and looking at individuals who are examples of entrepreneurial thinking. You may need to refer the students to any previous lessons or experience of enterprise in school.

Introduction

The lesson begins by explaining the reason why students will be looking at Jay Z as an example of someone who demonstrates enterprise skills – an entrepreneur. Students have the opportunity to learn a little more about him before tackling the main activity. Groups of students examine his enterprise skills, understand what makes him successful and identify skills that they can learn from him.

The lesson concludes with each group presenting their findings to the rest of the class.
