Fire Safety Lesson Plan

Each year many people suffer burns caused by the uncontrolled ignition of the flammable chemicals and other materials they work with. Working with flammable substances is hazardous because of the risk of fire and explosion.

Activities

This lesson is broken down into a series of activities supported by a PowerPoint presentation. Students are first reminded about the basics of fire, before looking at why fires start. A quick quiz will test student understanding at this stage. Teachers then present further information about fire safety and using fire extinguishers before students are given a series of questions to review the topic.

Lesson Outcomes

By the end of this session, students will have learnt the key concepts relating to the issue of fire safety in the workplace. They will also have acquired the knowledge and understanding to apply these concepts to their work placement or new job.
