Skills for Personal Development Lesson Plan 3 - Thinking Skills
What makes and effective learner? Identify skills and qualities needed to be successful in school and work.
This careers lesson aims to raise students awareness and understanding of the learning and thinking skills they have developed throughout their studies.
Learning & Thinking Skills Careers Lesson
In this second lesson in a series of 3, students will identify and gain a greater understanding of some of the main learning and thinking skills they have acquired and then be able to provide examples of how these can be applied.
Following a class discussion, students will then work in pairs or small groups to fully explore a range of skills and their attributes in 2 of the activities. This is followed by an individual activity for students to complete their own skills audit.
By the end of the lesson, students:
* will be able to provide explanations / definitions of the main learning and thinking skills
* will be able to provide examples of these skills in the context of their studies
* will complete a Personal Skills ‘audit’ including evidence of when and where they have demonstrated these skills.
An additional PowerPoint is provided for students to complete. This will create a record for their e-portfolio or end of module presentation.
