Learning Outcomes

As part of the key stage 3 programme of study for work-related learning:

Key concepts:

- Understanding the way business and the economy operates
- Knowing and understanding the nature of money, and having an insight into its functions and uses.

Key processes:

- Pupils should be able to manage their money
- Explain some financial terms likely to be important in their personal and working lives.

Introduction

Teacher input:Establish how many of the students already work (whether it is babysitting or a paper round) or if they have friends or siblings who work.

What hours do they work? How much do they get paid?

This exercise is to find out how much the class knows about work at the moment, and as a basis for comparison with children working in the past.
