KS4 - Careers Assessment Tool for students to complete
In this section, we have included some useful resources for careers teachers. These do not form individual lessons, but can be used to support the careers scheme of work across key stages 3 and 4.
These guidelines will ensure that you feel confident about offering career planning interviews to your students. They offer a background and ethical grounding on how to conduct interviews in the most effective way and some example templates which in some ways mirror a lesson plan in showing you what to do and when.
Assessing students’ knowledge, skills and understanding in economic well-being is a challenge. We have devised this assessment tool in conjunction with teachers who know how difficult assessment can be.
This assessment is created by the students themselves as a PowerPoint presentation. The assessment is designed to be returned to over time, so they can add evidence of their skills and understanding throughout the course of year 10 and beyond. It is also designed to be presented to people to show what they have learnt.
An effective careers convention should give students the chance to research any careers and courses they may be interested in applying for once they leave school. It should also allow them to gather information to help them make the right decision and give them the opportunity to talk to business professionals and local company owners. These careers convention resources provide useful guidance on how to help students make the most of the day.
