Explain that the session is more about getting them to understand their motivations, their personality and the way others perceive them.

Advise them that the results can be added to their progress file or careers passport as part of their ongoing career choice development.

Learning Outcomes

Students will develop ideas on career paths based upon their personality and interests.
Students will develop an understanding about what type of year out would suit them based upon their personality.
Students will develop an understanding on whether a gap year is appropriate for them.

Introduction

Split students into groups. Hand out the ‘what would suit me?’ worksheet to students. Ask students to complete the worksheets as if they were one of the famous people given as examples based upon their image and personality. Would they benefit from a gap year? Why?

Ask students to then work in pairs and complete the questions for both themselves and their partner to give an objective view. It is important that students answer honestly. Compare results with each other. Are there any surprises?
