Work Experience Assembly Plan
This secondary assembly about work experience is a valuable teaching resource to inform and prepare students before their work experience placement in year 10. The assembly plan includes a teacher’s script and an accompanying PowerPoint presentation to act as a visual aid and emphasise certain points.
The assembly focuses on what the key points of work experience are, in relation to certain aspects of the curriculum and the students’ futures. The assembly resource can be linked to some topics in PSHE and Business Studies, as well as falling under the cross-curricular aim of economic wellbeing. The teaching resource for work experience dispels myths about work experience, highlighting the key personal and academic skills that are acquired through a placement, such as self-discipline and discovering how trade unions work.
The assembly plan is a great way of introducing and preparing students for their placement, as well as settling any nerves and solving any potential problems that may arise. The students will have peace of mind and be aware of what to do if anything out of the ordinary occurs, as well as looking forward to their placements with more knowledge and enthusiasm!
