Anti-bullying Assembly

Every school has to deal with bullies. This assembly plan is a useful reminder for students of what bullying is and how it is dealt with. In this assembly plan, students will consider how bullying can affect all those involved, including those who are witnesses. We take a look at how bullying can be tackled and have the opportunity to remind students about the school anti-bullying policy.

Bullying Assembly Plan for Key Stage 3 and 4

This teacher resource for an assembly on bullying encourages all students, not just those who are victims or bullies themselves, to think carefully and address the problems that bullying brings to all schools. The assembly script and the PowerPoint presentation, that are both provided, link together to deliver a very thorough and thought-provoking assembly.

Students will be informed of general facts, that include the presence of some form of bullying in the school and that it interferes with learning, as well as what to do to if they witness any instance of bullying and who to tell. One of the most important points of the assembly resource is that it highlights that bullying cannot be ignored, in any way, shape or form.

Bullies themselves are also addressed and empathised with, in the assembly plan. The PowerPoint presentation emphasises that bullies do lose out, and are more likely to be involved in criminal activities when they leave school. As well as a warning for bullies, the assembly also offers bullies help. If they have a specific reason for bullying, such as a problem at home or self-confidence issues, then they are likely to feel better making others feel worse. Bullies are encouraged to talk to someone at school or at home instead of committing such a destructive act as bullying. Commonalities between bullies are explored, as is the adult equivalent of bullying, which is considered as a criminal offence.

The resource takes everyone into account – those who witness bullying but do nothing about it are just as bad as the bullies themselves. This teacher assembly plan covers all aspects of bullying and how it affects people, and more importantly, how to deal with bullies and bullying when such instances are witnessed. All the students attending the assembly will have a different outlook on bullying and will hopefully think more carefully in the future about how they react to bullying.
