Holocaust Remembrance Day Assembly

This assembly resource is for a very important day in both British and worldwide history. Holocaust Remembrance Day is a key date in the calendar and all students will learn its significance and how it is still relevant today.

The PowerPoint that accompanies the assembly helps visually guide the students attending the assembly through a very sensitive subject, highlighting the various implications that it had on the world. Remembering the holocaust and its massive impact on the world is something that all people should learn about.

The assembly reflects on the lives of the six million people who died in such horrifying circumstances for no reason at all. Simply because of what their religion was, or their skin colour or political opinion, innocent people were murdered. The slides tell of other occasions in which equally innocent people were killed in a similar fashion, to highlight that the genocide of the holocaust was not a one-off.

The resource also encourages the students to spare a thought for those still at war today, and how we should remember the fallen who have fought so bravely for our countries and for peace.
