Connect the Learning

Recap on the previous lesson which explored the range of activities that could be undertaken as part of a community involvement project.

The Big Picture

This lesson looks at students’ personal preferences for the type of activity they would like to do.

Learning Outcomes

To identify students’ personal interests in terms of active citizenship

To prioritise these interests and those of the group

Introduction

Individually, students complete the ‘What are your skills?’ worksheet identifying skills needed for community activities and skills that they may already have. If there is time, they then read two or more of the case studies and identify key skills needed to do these types of project.

Activity

Using the ‘What makes you tick?’ activity students identify sectors they may be interested in looking at further.

Demonstration

The class or group joins together and a tally is made on the whiteboard/blackboard of the different sectors students are interested in.
