Recycling Assembly

This recycling assembly resource is for teachers looking to inform their students about the benefits of recycling, and how to do it. There is a big responsibility on people every day to recycle, and this assembly plan helps teach the future generations about how they can improve our planet, one day at a time.

The assembly script encourages the pupils to define what recycling is, as an introduction, and to try and think how much they actually throw away. The accompanying PowerPoint presentation helps to back up the encouragement of recycling by offering facts and statistics to make the children think a little more about how they can help the environment.

The assembly is very much an informative and engaging presentation that really puts the onus on the pupils in terms of what they can do to improve their environment. It makes some very interesting points about recycling, and how recycling just one aluminium tin can save enough energy to run a computer for an hour. Trivial facts such as this make the whole issue of recycling more relevant to the students, and should encourage them to be more thoughtful about recycling (even if just to benefit themselves!).

The resource also looks at why we have such a waste problem in our world today, and what can be done to solve such problems. The assembly plan explores recycling in terms of the ‘Three R’s’ to help children remember how they can make a difference. The assembly plan works well to expose pupils to the dangers of increasing waste, which will hopefully then spur them on to make their own personal, positive contribution.
